Ethical Manufacturing

All our packaging is REACH compliant and we regularly test our products to ensure they comply. REACH is a regulation of the European Union, adopted to improve the protection of human health and the environment from the risks that can be posed by chemicals used in productions. It also promotes alternative methods for the hazard assessment of substances in order to reduce the number of tests on animals.

In addition, Ramko only use soy-based ink for all printing unless this is not possible for a specific reason, such as UV or tissue paper printing. Soy-based inks only contain soy beans and natural resins, plus natural wax. See the below symbol for Soy Ink printing should you wish to communicate this on your packaging or within your environmental policy statements.

We also offer a full range of the below materials, which can be used for packaging:

Recycled and % Recycled Materials including Wood Free paper, Art Paper and Kraft. Paper is in general made from wood mixed with other materials such as cotton and water through processing.

We can recommend which options are best for different types of packaging or labelling depending on the required function. The paper made of waste materials can be recycled up to 5 times, thus reducing tree felling and protecting forest resources.

Bamboo Paper (Wood free paper, Art paper)
Bamboo is an exceptional renewable resource for a variety of reasons. It is the fastest growing plant on the planet and can grow up to 20 times faster than trees in northern boreal forests.

One of the main benefits is that it can be grown on marginal land which is of little use for agriculture and bamboo planting in these regions help to restore soil, prevent erosion, and improve the water table. Many species of bamboo also don’t succumb to virulent pests. As a result, fewer pesticides are needed. Bamboo generates oxygen and increases the absorption or sequestering of carbon dioxide.

Unbleached Paper

This means no chemical substances or brightening agents are used for bleaching the paper during production therefore removing potentially toxic substances from the production process.

Chlorine-Free Paper

Chlorine-free paper is an environmentally preferable alternative to paper bleached with chlorine. Chlorine and its derivatives ,such as chlorine dioxide, the most common bleaching agent used by the pulp and paper industry are harmful to the environment, particularly the aquatic environment.

Biodegradable Lamination

Is available to be used with Art Paper and other Coated Papers. Through the action of micro-organisms in soil and water or the effect of ultraviolet rays in sunlight, it splits and degrades in the natural environment, and finally re-enters the ecological environment in a reduced form and returns to nature. The minimum order quantity is 5,000 meters, which is approximately 120,000 hang tags based on size of 12x10cm for example.

Seed Paper

This is made from 100% recycled paper or post-consumer waste and embedded with seeds encouraging end consumers to plant the item, which will decompose while also growing flowers or herbs. Please contact us to discuss the options.
